Lama in the Light

Pratik Malpure
Acrylic on Canvas 24 X 36 Inches Figurative
"Upp deepo bhavah"- Be your own guiding light. We feel the darkness around us. We know that there is darkness inside us. It's up to us whether we choose to see the ray of light or the darkness within ourselves. Calm in knife strokes or noise of light, is felt when we walk down the narrow path of life. Looking for a window is the only way out. When in a tunnel of darkness, we trust the light at the end of the tunnel to guide us out. It so turns out to be true in our spiritual life as well. The artwork depicts a Lama, a learned Buddhist scholar, studying under the heavenly beam of light entering the long, narrow and dark corridor through a small window. The Lama symbolically represents our mind where the window is the eye through which we observe the universe outside, or our soul through which the Almighty shines his light. I present an abstract work to reminisce us to be our own Light in shining armor.
