Jallikattu

Jallikattu is an ancient combat sport of Tamilnadu. It’s the sport of the soil, a festive event which commemorates the identity and bravado of its people. The event is not just for entertainment, but also a crucial harbinger for the continuity of the native breeds of cows which contributes to the social and economic factors. I wanted to capture the moment of stillness in the atmosphere full of grit and energy of Jallikattu, where the crowd fades away and the contestant is alone with the bull.
