Ek Dopahar !!

This painting shows three women chit chatting and having a gala time. The background wall of the place is smeared with hand painted murals. In India, the trend of having hand painted murals on walls is an ancient trend and most village households have a tradition of creating great art work on their walls using mirrors, chalk and natural colors. The three women are sitting on the "charpai" - the handmade single bed made from wood and jute roaps. The unison expression on the face of all the three women is one that of content, happiness and relaxation. The artist has tried to show how the bond over charpai is an old and fruitful tradition in India and an essential part of everyday village life in rural households of the country.
