Death - Limited Edition of 10

Death is possibly my favorite card to paint in the entire Tarot deck, possibly because it is the inescapable truth and that nothing lasts forever. We at times take our lives for granted, and forget to value ourselves & our loved ones. The Messenger of Death, an armor-clad skeletal figure riding a white horse which signifies purity, strength & power. The black armor signifies that Death is inevitable, the dark color is of mourning & the unknown. Death carries a five-petal rose flag which represent purification, immortality, beauty & the number five which represents change. The horseman carries no weapon, yet the bishop, young woman and child plead for their lives, but Death spares no one. The boat in the background escorts the dead onto the afterlife. The sun of immortality shines between the two towers. Death is one of the most feared cards in a Tarot spread, however this may also indicate dramatic change & transformation.
