    • This exquisite Nandi sculpture by artist Upasana Chaudhary is a radiant fusion of Indian mythology, sacred symbolism, and contemporary decorative artistry. Nandi, the divine bull and sacred vehicle of Lord Shiva, is portrayed here not merely as a sculptural form, but as a living canvas of spiritual storytelling.

The fiberglass surface is meticulously hand-painted with intricate floral patterns, paisleys, and ornamental motifs, creating a rich tapestry of color and rhythm across the body. Embedded within the design are miniature narrative panels depicting scenes from Indian mythology divine figures, celestial couples, and sacred iconography transforming the sculpture into a visual scripture of devotion and culture. Each panel feels like a framed painting within the larger form, blending sculpture and painting into a single unified artwork.

The use of gold accents, deep greens, reds, blues, and ivory tones gives the piece a regal presence, while the symmetrical detailing reflects discipline, patience, and fine craftsmanship. The calm posture of Nandi symbolizes peace, strength, devotion, and spiritual guardianship, making the artwork both aesthetically powerful and symbolically profound.

Upasana Chaudhary’s signature style is evident in the way she merges traditional Indian miniature painting aesthetics with contemporary sculptural form, creating a work that feels timeless yet modern. This sculpture is not just decorativeit is a sacred object, a cultural narrative, and a devotional symbol that celebrates Indian heritage, mythology, and spiritual continuity through art.

      Upasana Chaudhary

Upasana Chaudhary is a Delhi-based contemporary artist whose practice is deeply rooted in Indian mythology and traditional visual narratives. She has Completed MFA at CCS University, Meerut, she brings a strong academic foundation to her work, which she has showcased through several exhibitions. Her artistic journey reflects a thoughtful dialogue between classical Indian themes and contemporary sculptural expression. Working primarily on fiberglass sculptures, Upasana transforms three-dimensional forms into richly detailed visual stories. Her surfaces are meticulously hand-painted, often depicting scenes and figures drawn from Hindu mythology—gods, goddesses, symbolic animals, and sacred iconography—rendered in a style that echoes traditional Indian miniature painting, temple art, and folk motifs. The artwork shown here exemplifies her approach: a sculptural form adorned with intricate mythological narratives, layered compositions, and harmonious color palettes. Each section of the sculpture functions like a visual chapter, combining devotion, storytelling, and ornamentation. The use of gold tones, fine line work, and symbolic imagery creates a sense of reverence while also inviting close, contemplative viewing. Through her work, Upasana Chaudhary seeks to preserve and reinterpret India’s mythological heritage in a contemporary context. By choosing fiberglass as her medium, she bridges durability and tradition, allowing ancient stories to inhabit modern spaces. Her art stands as a celebration of cultural memory, craftsmanship, and spiritual imagination, expressed through a distinctly personal and contemporary artistic voice.
