Raas Leela

The picture depicts Raash Leela, i.e the love story of Radha and Krishna. Here in this picture Radha and Krishna is dancing with their 'Gopis'(friends). In the mythology it is mentioned that there was eight of them but to make the painting more effective 10 friends have been shown. Every one is dancing on the beats of a musical instrument called ' khanjani' which is famous mainly in Bengal and Orissa. The sound of khanjani is melodious and its beats make everyone happy. The birds are flying away hearing the music which als resemble that they too are happy.
