Holy Bull of Shiva

Latest work of a famous contemporary artist, Purnendu Mandal in oil and acrylic colours on canvas illustrates his compositional skill and command over the medium and techniques used. He has aptly revealed sacredness associated with Nandi – the holy bull this is omnipresent in temples and religious shrines. Nandi is a faithful and trustworthy carrier of Lord Shiva which protects him and the universe from evil and bad omens. Use of iconic motifs such as bells, conches, galaxy of stars, trident, damru etc. has highlighted the relevance and sacredness of Nandi thereby adding a new visual parameter to the creative endeavours.
