Mumbai Meri Jaan

Mumbai- A wonderful city built on dreams and hopes. Bollywood runs through it's veins while few come here with dreams, some dream to come here. "City of dreams" - this is Mumbai. The city that keeps running and never sleeps. It is always bustling with life, after a days struggle the cities night atmosphere is what it is popular for... Everyone rushes to the beaches, seashore's and clubs. Dim yellow lights and gentle rhythms of sea waves to accompany at this time it's all about them, their fun and being with the people they like at the end of the day. The city is beautiful it's not just about marine drive, chowpatty, juhu beach, colaba causeway or fashion street... It's about eating at roadside stalls, the famous vada pav to the Dabeli. It's about the local markets and the bargaining, the local areas, the lady sitting on the street selling vegetables and fresh caught fish for 2 Rupee each. It's about the tiny little things left out the life so pleasant and peaceful where all that matters is a days hardwork to feed the hungry stomach and there is nothing else they worry about other than living their life the happiest for that day. This painting is a combined artwork of all the pictures I took of people during my vacation to Mumbai in 2018. I recreated them and stitched them all into one panel painting to show the underrated side of Mumbai.. the face of Mumbai that's not just Bollywood or posh areas, skyscrapers and cultures. It's more than just that. The people near Haji Ali darga and outside the darga where everyone is an expert salesman running their business. The lady sitting in the market selling daily greens near the market entrance, the vada pav shops, Khali peeli (yellow taxis), double decker bus, the juhu beach with a flat stretch, Mumbai chai wala, Gate way of India everything and much more. Life in this city is not just about work. Life here is about following your dreams.
