My works express simplicity. I have been toying with the idea of how the presence/absence of an object/a person within a vast spatial landscape evoke the sentiment of loneliness/emptiness visually. My works are inspired by nature and I try to capture thevastness of natural landscapes, the variegated hues and the atmospheric effects through textures, that I create from hand made pulp. In my recent works I have been exploring this further by creating my own paper from natural sources such as banana plant or cotton or bamboo leaves. During the process of paper-making, I begin to deploy the atmospheric effects by using the prepared pulp. Based on my requirements, I use different colours to dye the pulp, I make pulp painting (handmade paper) from different pulp. which i make abosoulutely acid free paper. While creating texture, I also wish to stimulate the viewer's sensation of touch. I try to explore and use the associative quality of colours while delineating a form within my pictorial space. In this manner, the creation of the pictorial composition as well asthe base for it handmade paper is taking place side-by-side. The technique used by Indian miniature painters of creating several layers has inspired me to evolve a variety of textures in the process of simulating natural landscapes through what I call pulp-painting.
