Devotion

The old monk in the painting is gripped by sorrow. The wrinkles marring his face symbolise his hardships and experience. He has completely submitted himself to the Trinity of Hindu pantheon-- Bramha, Vishnu, and Mahesh; represented by the faces around. After all the pain life has thrown in the old monk's path, he has finally submitted to the higher powers, and now is on his path to spirituality and wisdom.
