Arundhati is an Indian artist who was born in 1991 in Devrukh, Ratnagiri, Maharashtra. She attended Devrukh College of Art & Design, which placed a great emphasis on creativity and the development of the students. In this rich environment, Arundhati developed a love for drawing with oil colours, acrylic and painting in watercolour, oil colour, and print making.
By the time Arundhati reached high school, her interest in art and art history language seemed to be pointing her in the direction of realistic paintings like portrait and portraiture. At that juncture she felt that the only way to make a career from art was to work at a commercial art studio. Her work from this time is semi-abstract, continuing the theme of feminism and complex relationship to the world.
Currently Arundhati is a happily married mother who lives in Pune with her baby boy and husband Avinash, who too is an artist. Over the last 5 years, she has had several exhibitions of her work in multiple parts of the nation including Delhi, Goa, Pune, Rajasthan and more. Her painting from this time examines the impact of mining on the Indian landscape. Her interest in large painting expression has now extended to a love of painting on large canvas sizes.
Even today she is always on the lookout for stories that will appeal to you and your senses. She believes that painting is one of the purest mediums of expression of thoughts and feelings. We transcend the boundaries of the literal and experience freedom, thought, happiness and awareness of non-existence.
She views her paintings as an endeavour to connect with her audience and more importantly to connect with herself on a deeper level. She hopes that whoever gazes upon her paintings gets a chance to admire the beauty that life is and deepen their connection with the world around and with themselves…
