Kṛṣṇa is the source of everything. He is the root. As the root of a tree maintains the whole tree, Kṛṣṇa, being the original root of all things, maintains everything in this material manifestation. He is the source of brahma ( the creator of this universe) who has originated fom his navel. Krishna is shown standing on the earth as the controller of every thing, living and inert. Lotus is a sign of rebirth of vishnu in form of krishna.
