Ancestral kingdom
In my works, I have tried to explore the debate between materiality and abstract concepts. To learn the dialogue between social space and identity, and how human is dealing emotionally, socially and politically in their everyday life. I use soil, cloth, found objects, charcoal to understand the identity of the material. Using soil to my work I try to understand the human roots and to create a neutral space and using cotton (Lungi, Bed, Bag), found objects to create a dialogue between space between humans and material. Through the material, I try to explore my process and content.
In order to capture this struggle for space I used surface materials such as:
. Lungi (an article of everyday clothing worn by the lower social class Bengalis and Bengali Muslim adult males)
. Cotton bed
. Recycled cloth doormat
. Paper
I used various mediums of drawing, painting, collage, photography. My most preferred medium being charcoal.
