Untitled-III
I believe that “Being in the moment", is the phrase which describes the meditative state. For me the act of making a painting is meditation. What does matter, to me, is that the meditative state is achieved and the real essence of the painting emerges from that place. In fact it may be an undeniable requirement. If we arrive at that meditative state while we are in the process of painting, the main objective of the act has been satisfied.
My painting consists of concentric circles. Working on the repeating pattern, certainly lead me quickly to that mindless place where I can linger, as long as it takes. The circle represents wholeness and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself – a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds. My compositions are simple which allows the viewers to experience an immediate, pure visual response and pure qualities of colour, form and space. I use neutral colours in my paintings. Colors are not used to express feeling or mood, but it simply indicates the natural reality which is colourless. The natural source within us too is colourless. The only thing that seems colourful in the external reality is the thing that is created by mind. The colour exists only in our perception. Our mind adds its own colours to different subjective and objective reality.
I am more inclined towards minimalism. As meditation clears the mind and takes us to a level of tranquility my painting too take you to a neutral state eliminating the clutter within and outside. “When the flower arranger arranges the flowers, he also arranges his mind and the mind of the person who looks at the flowers,”
