Metamorphosis

Everything around us is an array of colour, from the ground we walk on to the sky above, the world we see is anything but black and white. In this series, I have tried to capture the simple nuances of life with basic lines, shapes, primary colours and abstract forms. From organic to physical to auditory, there are patterns everywhere. The major force of my artwork is strongly reminiscent of murals and urban art, with both realistic and abstract shapes, bright defined colours and an assortment of motifs and patterns. While the shading is minimal, detailing plays a major role in bringing the images to life. My artwork is equally inspired by and dedicated to the city of Kolkata. The altering face and pace of the city, the perpetual passion for culture, the warmth of human emotions, the love, hate, politics and especially the nostalgia of and around the city has encouraged me to rediscover myself on a whole new level. Sauntering down the lanes gives me a cue to pause for a while, take a break from the urban chaos and reconnect with my ideals. To me, life is all about illusions and in this series which I call – Metamorphosis, I have tried to portray ever-changing small fragments of life.
