A place beyond Longitudes (Set of 3)

There are millions of displaced people across the world forced to live a life of refugees. They migrate several miles crossing rivers and seas, escaping barred wires and the scrutiny of border security forces in the darkness of the night, longing for life itself. Longitudes and Latitudes are cardinal points that help to locate a place in numbers so that anyone can understand the location of a place on the map irrespective of language. But for the migrants, these maps do not tell them which will be the place they can call home again. The work recalls the uncertainties and complexities of the displaced people. The artist has used mathematical theorems and techniques like the Prime number sequence to create a feeling of deep and expansive spaces with dots in 'gold' being symbolic of people migrating discreetly in the darkness of the night.
